On abstraction.

There are things which we have a direct connection to. We touch the soil and there it is, we cut the wood and we can smell the sawdust, we touch the skin and we know someone.

We look at a photograph of a forest. We buy a table at the store. We talk over a digital wire. We are a layer removed.

The photographs are no longer of real things. They are photographs of photographs. The things are not real things they are simulations. And people? Well, it is quite hard to tell these days where the people are and even then, it is harder still to tell what they _really_ think behind the digital curtain.

I write code, the ultimate abstraction. How to reconcile this longing for unabstraction with my daily life?

Isn't it crazy the things people say?

Subject A said this so subject B did this and so the commenters say that C should have done this... Have we all gone mad? We are all people connected to each other, can we not just say what is what?

Abstraction is a big enough problem in software, bringing it into real life is a virus situation...
